ABOUT US

The Pennsylvania Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (PAMIC) is a trade association that has proudly represented the Mutual Insurance Industry since 1907. Our membership comprises some of the most historic companies in the industry, along with new companies who are thriving under the same model. Today our member groups represent many property and casualty insurers licensed to do business in Pennsylvania. While we are based in Pennsylvania, PAMIC membership represents the majority of the Mid-Atlantic region. Our companies hail from: Ohio, Michigan, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia and Virginia.

Beyond mutual companies, we represent over 130 market members who are crucial in upholding the value and operations of our member groups. Some examples of our associates are: law firms, accounting firms, reinsurance companies, restoration companies and technology firms. Our mission is to continue the illustrious history of the Mutual Insurance Industry through our three pillars: Advocacy, Education, and Networking.

    Jennifer Potter, PG, Barry Isett
Todd Gerhart, PE, SE, Barry Isett

Sinkholes, natural ground collapse hazards, often occur without warning and can result in significant property damage, loss of life, or temporary displacement of individuals insured. Due to their unusual and often hidden attributes, the damage assessment on sinkhole claims can be daunting for the Claims Adjuster. This presentation focuses on how and why sinkholes form, typical stabilization methods utilized for sinkhole remediation and structure repair, and the importance of engaging a team of professional engineers and geologists to assist the Claims Adjuster in evaluating sinkhole claims. Employing a team approach enhances the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the claims process, while also reducing the risk of future litigation.

    Hotel Information:

There is no room block for this event. There are hotels within walking distance of the Capitol.

Our preferred hotel that we have a corporate rate agreement with is the Royal Sonesta. This is a brand new property right across the street from the NAMIC office.  To access our corporate rate, click here NAMIC Corporate Rate at Royal Sonesta Capitol Hill. Under the rate code, you should see 2NATIONO filled in in the Corporate/Promo box. That should apply a 15% discount to any room that gets booked that way, as long as the hotel has availability (if nothing pops up it’s likely the hotel is close to sold out and can’t honor the rate. Regardless of which hotel you all use we strongly recommend folks book early as hotels tend to fill up quickly in DC.

     Other hotels in the area:

    1. Yotel (formerly Liaison)
    2. Capitol Hill Hilton (formerly Washington Court)
