9:15 – 10:15 am - What’s in Store for 2025 with the New Political Climate

As 2025 ushers in a new political landscape, the mutual insurance industry must adapt to evolving policies, regulations, and economic priorities. This session will explore the key political changes and their potential impact on the mutual insurance industry, and provide insights into legislative trends, regulatory updates, and advocacy strategies to help attendees navigate the shifting environment.

10:15 – 11:15 am - The Double-Edged Sword of AI

In this session, the panelists will address the positives of artificial intelligence (AI) and the challenges with AI that are facing the insurance industry. There is no doubt that AI brings a transformative era to insurance companies, which impacts operations like customer service, underwriting, claims handling, fraud detection, IT development, etc. How is the industry currently using AI, and what does the future look like for both the risks and opportunities?

Cyber attacks can lead to the loss of confidential data, business, and reputation. The scope of personally identifiable information, and sensitive data processed by insurers puts the industry at increased risk of social engineering and ransomware. Our panel of specialists will share views on  cybersecurity and how to think about using risk management to control the cyber attack challenges.

2:30 – 3:30 pm - Insuring Roofs/Aerial Imagery

Join us for an insightful session on the use of aerial imagery in the insurance industry at this year’s conference! This session will explore how cutting-edge technology and satellite imagery are transforming the way insurers assess risk, manage claims, and expedite underwriting processes. Industry experts will demonstrate real-world applications, highlight the benefits of aerial imagery for more accurate property evaluations, and discuss future trends in this rapidly evolving field.

  • John Joseph, Mutual Capital Analytics
  • Neil Weiss, Nearmap
  • Moderator: Kevin Finn, President/CEO, Mutual Capital Analytics

3:30pm - 4:30 pm - Emerging Issues: Lithium-Ion Batteries

Lithium-Ion batteries are used in everything from cellphones to electric vehicles today. Learn about the new risks associated with Lithium-Ion batteries. It is important to understand the care and safety measures that help to prevent catastrophic battery failures and subsequent fires. Discover the best information sources for Lithium-Ion battery risk mitigation and progress toward formal code development to address Lithium-Ion battery safety.
