In early August 2021, PAMIC held its 114th Annual Convention at the Hotel Hershey. Catch pictures of the event on our homepage (please put the homepage here). It was great to see smiling faces and friendly greetings. However, the highlight of the night is what our members did to support the 4 Diamonds organization whose mission is to stamp out childhood cancers and develop treatments that do not endanger the lives of the children. Many of you are familiar with the 4 Diamonds through its affiliation with Penn State Thon. However, on the night of August 2, 2021 the representative of the 4 Diamonds made their case for giving to this cause including a heart wrenching video of the life of a young girl from the local area. This hit home for my wife and I because we personally knew this young lady from our neighborhood and school. My wife, Katy, taught her for 2-years while she was in Middle School. She passed away, not from her cancer, but from the harsh treatments she endured.
Our members donated over $25,000 that night surpassing all expectations. Thank you for caring and I know the money will go to a great cause!
Andrea Stroble has decided to move on to greener pastures by getting back to her roots as an event planner for a large hotel chain. She will be moving to Virginia Beach just prior to the PAMIC Convention this summer. She has been a wonderful employee, friend, and coworker. Her enthusiasm and energy are evident in all she does. Andrea will be missed!

Networking opportunities: PAMIC understands that aside from very important educational offerings, one of the main pillars of our association is to provide fun and convenient ways to meet peers in the industry. The 114th Convention will offer plenty of opportunities from the Volleyball Tournament on Sunday, to the Golf Outing on Tuesday afternoon, or the PAC Reception on the Veranda. We can’t wait to see you in Hershey this August!
The annual Executive and Board Roundtable (virtual) is now open for registration with a tremendous line-up of speakers and topics critical to company operations. Highlights include:

Industry experts will be discussing the latest updates on Business interruption litigation in Pennsylvania and pst-Covid Back to Work issues important to your operations.
Brown Schultz, Sheridan & Fritz will provide higher-level insight into industry performance metrics to help board members understand the numbers behind the financial and operational performance.

Smith, President & CEO, Pennsylvania Lumbermens Mutual Insurance Company. PAMIC's three foundational pillars are Education, Advocacy, and Networking, which serve the membership well. This roundtable discussion is to catalog how PAMIC can continue to be a viable tool to help our industry thrive. We will focus on what PAMIC is currently doing, what PAMIC should consider doing in the future, and eliminate functions that may not be viable in today's economy. Please feel free to submit any focus points you would like to hear about during this session upon registering.

Bloomsburg University's Department of Finance will be offering a new undergraduate minor in the field of insurance and Risk Management. PAMIC began discussions with Bloomsburg in 2018 to discuss the insurance industry’s need to attract talent to our industry. Prior to our discussion there was no state university that offered an insurance related minor. Most students planning a career in insurance, matriculated to the larger insurance programs like Temple and St Joseph’s and others to prepare for their career. The minor is planned to kick off in Fall 2021!
